Reseller Web Hosting Question

Ok, So I'm starting to host for local businesses around me and one thing that threw me off is that someone asked for a ssl url.

Now talking to my host, he directed me to ev1 for the ssl certs. After reading around, i decided that chained ssl is the best way to go because it doesn't seem to make a difference because the people that my clients are catering to are complete noobs right?

Now it says I need a dedicated ip so i go to buy one from my host.

Now I'm about to buy an ssl cert, but I was thinking, does this mean I have to buy a ssl cert each time a client requests one? Or do i just put it on my personal domain? Exactly how does it work with CPanel? If i put a ssl cert on my personal domain, how do I use that to point to my client's shopping cart?

Thank you

You need an SSL cert for each domain. You also need an IP for each separate SSL cert. I would go with a geoTrust cert (I use a quickSSL cert). Installing one on your personal domain would mean that all secure transactions would have to go to your domain first -- which may or may not be ok with the business (if I were them, it wouldn't be).

Once you have the cert, installing in CPanel is pretty easy.

im with ultraunix. After reading for about an hour or so I slowly figured it out, to just use secure.mydomain.com/~clientname and it works and how Cpanel seems to work in general... Thank you anyway.
