reseating an athie cpu

I'm embarassed that I even have to ask this, given I put this particular box together. But I want to reseat my cpu and was stymied by the hs/fan arrangement. The cpu is on an ECS K7ZVA board and there appears to be a clip on one side in between the cpu socket and the DIMMS. Rather than relying on trial and error to disengage the cpu/hs/fan so I can reseat it I'm hoping for some pointers.

(why do I want to reseat the CPU? random system lockups got me thinking maybe something got jarred loose during transport from the last lanparty)

Very doubtful that your HSF got jarred and needs to be reseated--as per AMD specs, the clip is on extremely tight (so tight you have to worry bout cracking the die on your CPU). but if you want to try and reseat it (while your at it, replace the thermal paste with soem AS2 or similar). take a screw driver (flat headed) to the side of the clip that holds the HSF on that has a little nudge in it--and then press down firmly while pulling away from the CPU (be sure not to jack your mobo while your at it) and whalla your HSF magically comes off!
