Reseating a P4

Hello,

I think I need to reseat a P4 processor since my computer reboots whenever the case has been hit....

I have never reseated a p4 processor, but I have reseated a P3 and I needed to reapply thermal proxy...

I didn't build this machine (its a dell), so if I want to reseat the processor can I just remove it and then put it back down? Don't P4s use thermal pads?

I would assume that they do use thermal pads for simplicity on the production line. Retail P4's use them as well.
