I just got internet installed today and everything went fine except I noticed my speed is slower on my main computer which is about 70-80 ft away from the Wlan modem. I am using a wireless adapter on my main comp and I have to use an USB extension cable along with my wireless adapter to get "full" speed.

I was thinking maybe the Wlan modem box the technician gave me wasn't as strong at directing the signal around the house and I was wondering if I can reroute it using my netgear router.

Can I do this?

The info is Not very clear.

If you have a Netgear Wireless Router there is No need to Re-rout you can add it as an Access point.

Using a Wireless Router as a switch with an Access Point - http://www.ezlan.net/router_AP.html

In any case, depending on the environment 70-80 feet can be a challenge to any End-User Wireless Router.
