Requiring people to post prices in Hot Deals in the title?

May reduce load.

It's annoying going to Hot Deals and seeing titles like

"HOT HOT DX905 HP Printer at Office Max B&M"

"GTA Vice City at Best Buy"

So I have to go in and see what the price is. If the price was posted in the title I could make the call on if I was interested or not.

Now I don't mind doing the work and opening the thread, but surely there are others like me who would like to see the price. If too high they don't have to open it, putting less strain on the server.

Of course on some things it wouldn't work, but just an idea.

itd be more trouble than it's worth, since most of the people dont bother reading the rules anyway.

Mine didn't. I re-read it and it said the same thing that MaxDSP said.

I don't think a new requirement like that is worth it. I mean, most bad deals slip down after the first couple of "where's the hot deal?" remarks anyways, and the good deals stay up with people coming in to say "thanks, just ordered" or comment about the item. And I'd probably click on a thread regardless of the title if I was actively looking for it, say for example GTA:Vice City.

And besides, there aren't that many threads right now (I'm eyeballing) that don't give you some semblance of the deal's worth. From the first 100, about half to two-thirds already give a figure in the title with the rest being the locked threads and undescript.

It is nice to put in the header and I do agree it would save some bandwidth but people are always posting better prices and ways of obtaining the item(s). People dont read the rules either...

True, you can't micro-manage, but you can easily suggest things. The more useful things will get noticed and used more frequently. Maybe a mention in the faq or how do I thread about the value of putting the price in the thread title. If the price isn't there it's not the end of the world.

Price & Date posted would help a lot when ancient threads are activated

I was going to post the same basic comment. There are rules and there are practices. Posting the price seems like a good practice and one that the members can encourage others to do. No need for a rule.
