Requirements to play DVD movies?

Hi all,
I have a Dell Inspiron 5000 notebook Celeron 500 with 128 mb RAM...running Win 2000 Pro. If I add a DVD Rom does it have enough horsepower to play movies?

you would need to check the hardware requirements of the dvd-rom and a factor that might also be there is video card. and even if you do have minimum requirements, you might want a better resolution.

my roommate last year who had a compaq 533MHz laptop with 64RAM was able to play DVD-ROMS just fine using an 8MB vid card at full screen.

install the ATI DVD software now, go to control panel and run the system check. If you pass, it will be smooth, just ignore the no DVD error for now.
