Required ram...

I'm trying to get my old dell up and running with linux, but I found that my motherboard (intel 810 - i think) only supports 4x64 ram... most ram you find now is 32x64 9if i'm not mistaken) and I get a beep error when I try to use this ram... right now I have 64mb of ram (2 sticks filling both spots), but I really need to upgrade to 256mb or 128mb at the least... a search on pricewatch could only reveal 64mb sticks.. Is there any other type of ram that will work with this comp? It is a Dell L500c, btw.

Thanks,

Henning

This should be the spec sheet on your system--> Linky

type RAM...-non-ECC SDRAM 168-pin modules
supports - 32, 64, 128, and 256 MB
Frquency..-100mhz PC100
clock cycle-10 ns (supports 4 clocks only)
CAS latency-three

To avoid troubles i would get PC100 only memory for that board.
Perhaps even use (2) 128mb chips, instead of (1) 256mb chip, just to be safe.

Crucial memory selector shows PC133 for your board, but i would still use the PC100.
