Require assistance with KazaaLite multiple source downloading

I have a question of moderate importance (at least to me :)). I've been using KazaaLite 1.7.1 for quite awhile now, however I'm having a problem with downloading. When downloading, each file only downloads from one source at a time. I never get more than 5kb/s for each file (I'm on cable).

In the past when I used Kazaa a long time ago, it would download from multiple sources and my files would get up to 300kb/s. I'm behind a router and I'm running Windows 2000 Professional. Are there any settings that I need to check to make sure I can download from multiple sources? (like opening certain ports or forwarding?)

Thanks!

Thank you for your response, however that is not what I meant.

I am able to download more than one file at a time. However, each individual file is limited to one source at any given time. I'd like to be able to download the same file from multiple users to increase the overall transfer rate of that particular file in question.

Right-click the download, and select "Find more sources for download". If there are indeed more sources available, it'll use them.

Also limit the bandwidth used for upload to something reasonable (maybe half your available upload bandwidth) if you want your downloads to reach good speeds.

Thanks for your reply, I have plenty of upload bandwidth available (I allocate about a quarter of my throughput for uploading). I'm also quite aware of how to use "find more sources to download" ;)

I have tried on many occasions, but I cannot get a multi-sourced transfer going. Also, I know that there's more than one source for the files I'm downloading, because when I search, I find many results for the same file. They all appear under the same heading, and I can expand it to see individual users that have the file available.

I have been able to get multi-sourced downloading to work before, however that was with a much older version a long time ago. If worse comes to worse, I might venture back to using the regular version of Kazaa, but I'd rather avoid spyware if possible.

Oops, sorry for the basic advice then, brinstar!

Don't know what else could be wrong...it works for me. Maybe you could try increasing the number of TCP connections allowed? I saw a thread some time ago that explained how to do it.

Good luck!!
