I'm at a loss as to why I watch this movie so much. I finished my 7th viewing of it yesterday. It's not like it's a bad movie, far from it. In fact I'd say it's not unreasonable to consider it one of the top 20 or so movies ever made.

But holy crap, there's more disturbing stuff in 10 minutes of that movie than Hostel and Nukie combined. True story: First time I watched that movie I was both stoned and drunk, and during the scene where Ty is calling for help while locked in jail and the camera starts freaking out, I started bawling. Not like "it's getting dusty in here" sniffles, I started freaking out badly and didn't stop till the end of the movie.

Anyone else lost sleep over this film?

Laughter is a way to deal with the uncomfortable feelings the movie elicits. I watched it once, that was enough. The same goes for Private Ryan, one time was enough.

That scene's actually pretty hot. Unfortunatley it's interspersed between the scene of the old lady's 3rd shock and poor Marlon Wayans being tortured by the toothless guard.

I've only seen it once, it's pretty hardcore, kids should watch that instead of doing DARE or any other anti-drug program.

Best movie I've ever seen. Not my favorite, but the best. I've only seen it twice, and not sure I want to see it again. But I would reccomend that everyone watch it.

Once was enough for me, although I own it. I keep it just to inflict it on people who haven't seen it yet.

I have to say also, that the Simpson's reference to in the McRibwich episode is just stunning and unbelievably well done.

I just saw this movie recently, the edited version. I want to get the unedited. No I don't do drugs. But I do like the movie.

Did the movie stop you from doing drugs?

Hands down creepiest scene: When Big Tim answers the phone when Jennifer Connonely calls and just laughs when she whispers "hi". Jesus.

Sorry I'm posting in my own thread so much. Most of my friends won't discuss this movie with me. Or anyone for that matter.

I'm pretty sure the ONLY difference between the two is about .5 seconds worth of footage in the ass-to-ass scene. The rest of it is identical.

It didn't stop me from smoking pot, but rest assured I don't intend to inject heroin into the same damn arm for months at a time any time soon.

I saw this movie twice in the theatre when it came out.. the first time I couldn't move.. I watched the entire credits including the coney island seagulls

The second time and every time since then I cry at two scenes, it's impossible not to.

I'm pretty sure I'll get around to seeing this in a few years. Probably around the same time I watch Braveheart.

In terms of horrifyingly depressing-ness, the scale is something like Requiem <----------------------------------------------------------------------------Braveheart<----Drowning puppies that are on fire.

I find the soundtrack very moving - everytime I listen to it, it evokes the same emotions as the film did.

it is definetly a weird movie. the director was also the one who made The Fountain and that movie was weird as hell too. love the soundtrack though.
