Hello all!
Would appreciate an opinion on a planned build. I'll be building two of these systems, to run on a network with a server and 1.5TB NAS.
The PCs will be used for: application development, web surfing, video editing, casual-to-moderate gaming, and database development.
Budget is $1300 per system.
Buying my parts from the USA.
Not a fangirl, per se; for this build, I am looking at Intel CPUs, Seagate/WD HDDs, and the ATI GPUs, but I have an open mind.
These are builds almost from scratch. I have three Samsung SH-S202 CD/DVDRWs that will go into these machines. (Don't ask --- the story is long and bizarre.)
I an open to overclocking, though I've never done it before.
I pulled a lot of the parts from the October 2008 low/medium/high end guide. I would love-love-love up-to-date recommendations.
I want to buy the parts ASAP ... tomorrow is not too soon!
I am not currently interested in putting multiple video cards in these systems. Crossfire, SLI --- these will NOT be incorporated into these machines.
Please let me know if I have gone overboard ... I don't think it's possible to have too much computer (like "too much fun," what does that mean?), but if I can scale back on something, please, let me know! I can apply any money saved to other things.
If one item doesn't work well with another, please let me know that, too.
Thanks in advance for the help!
