Requesting Insurance Advice

Unfortunately, my parents recently had their new HDTV stolen from their home as a result from burglary. I am seeking the best possible way to report this for insurance purposes.

The TV was purchased from another household through some classified ads. There were no formal receipts involved or anything. So what is the best way in this situation to go about providing proof for the insurance company?

From an insuance co. Personal Property Instruction Sheet.

1. Receipts
2. Credit Card Statements
3. Cancelled Checks
4. Remote Controls
5. Warrranty Cards
6. Bill of Sale/Invoice
7. Photographs (Items may be in background)
8. Owner's Manuals
9. Original Boxes
10. Appraisal completed prior to loss
