Requesting assistance with AIM login servers

Just this week I have been experiencing a problem logging in to AIM.

- While logging in, my connection window hangs at step 2. Verifying name & password.
- After a minute or so I get the error message "Connection lost. Check your internet connection."
- My internet connection seems to be OK. I can browse the web, use email clients, etc. I am even able to connect to AIM express on the AIM website.

After some research it seems the issue may be connecting to the AIM login server. I have attempted a few different workarounds like resolving the IP address for login.oscar.aol.com and entering the IP in the Host field. I have also tried resolving login.oscar.aol.com from different regions to see if it was just a problem with my local login server (not likely, but I'm really trying to exhaust all my options) and still no luck connecting. When using the "Auto Configure" button it says it has "successfully located a server that is accessible from your computer." This is login.oscar.aol.com and my inability to connect seems to indicate otherwise.

Has anyone here had a similar problem, or know AIM or the login servers very well and could offer any advice? Are there any alternate servers to use aside from login.oscar.aol.com?
