I think that Common Courtesy may have misinterpreted the subject matter of the thread, perhaps thinking that it was another anti-Obama thread (what's wrong with those anyway?--it is the P&N forum).

The core subject matter of the thread was not about how or whether Obama will be a horrible president (I voted for the guy), but rather whether people are being overly optimistic about him to the point of irrationality--whether all of the enthusiasm surrounding the inauguration is misplaced and whether or not people are prematurely optimistic and failing their civic duty of giving him the very skeptical examination that all politicians deserve.

I've more or less read the entire thread and haven't found anything particularly objectionable, and I don't see any reason why the subject matter of that thread was inappropriate. In fact, it's actually very timely and on point.

What I find very bothersome is that it almost seems as though many Americans are giving him a blank check instead of keeping a skeptical eye on him, which we should do for all politicians.

Obama lovers are going to be in for a huge letdown when they finally realize that he's just a normal politician and that he really won't fix our problems and might even make things a little worse.

As stated in the comments, prejudging him from either POV is wrong.

You are challenging the supporters for building up expectations. There have been plenty of other threads over the past 2-3 months on the subject. Let him prove himself and then jump on him for what he has done.

Actually I think you're just attempting to be a smart ass, but failed if you feel you have to explain it to me.

The point is Whippersnappers thread is perfectly fine for a forum named POLITICS & News. Discussing the "what ifs" is what politics is all about.

I didn't see anything wrong with the thread. It was a little trollish but most threads in P&N are. He does have a point about getting a pass from the press IMO.

I started my own thread about Obama, I hope it passes the smell test. 🙂

Notes. You have to keep your own notes. I kept a word doc on my desktop to add notes as needed. Problem, you don't always get every detail.

Is it some kind of power/ego trip to catch someone who is trying to slip back after being banned. Do you get "bonus points" for that or is it thaT bsobel just doesn't like me? Perhaps because he disagrees with some of my positions in P&N? Like my critic in thread?

I don't know what his problem is beyond being on an ego trip, but it's no reason to come into this thread and needlessly attack me. I've done nothing wrong so bite me bs.
