I disagree with the rationale given by Common Courtesy for closing this thread:

Give the new guy a chance to show what he is going to do; similar to the 100 days that previous presidents & congress have used to shine/fail.
Then if needed, post this thread. At that time, there will be comething to measure against.
I think that Common Courtesy may have misinterpreted the subject matter of the thread, perhaps thinking that it was another anti-Obama thread (what's wrong with those anyway?--it is the P&N forum).
The core subject matter of the thread was not about how or whether Obama will be a horrible president (I voted for the guy), but rather whether people are being overly optimistic about him to the point of irrationality--whether all of the enthusiasm surrounding the inauguration is misplaced and whether or not people are prematurely optimistic and failing their civic duty of giving him the very skeptical examination that all politicians deserve.
I've more or less read the entire thread and haven't found anything particularly objectionable, and I don't see any reason why the subject matter of that thread was inappropriate. In fact, it's actually very timely and on point.
