Request to mods when locking a thread

There are a lot of posts from people asking for explanations as to why specific threads were locked. This could be greatly reduced if mods consistently explain which rule/guideline was violated when locking a thread. This would provide all readers a single point of reference, and eliminate PM's and redundant messages in this and other forums.
