Request Mod poll: dvd media code: vs branding

I would like to see the moderators start a poll and gather signatures/names of people who would like to see dvd's/cd's listed by true media code, vs brand names. These days, you can't tell what media you are buying. Seems like every brand has numerous media codes, and some of those are fake. It would be great to make a statement that all of us users would like to see a change. I know that some of us are experienced enough to buy the quality name-brand stuff. But most folks out there don't know the difference. I personally don't know if it would be best to target retailers, manufacturers, or others.... But I do know that if the main forums sent this information to the right people, we might be able to institute a change.

The question is: why here? This should go in General Hardware.

Cliff notes for the DVD impaired: He wants DVDs listed by true media codes rather than Retail names (Sony, Verbatim, Memorex, etc). This way you can know for sure what you are getting or what to look for when buying DVDs.
