I use Proraso, and I actually bought it at Target. Other than that, there are a couple good forums (Badger and Blade forums) that suggest places. I think classicshaving.com is another good place, but I've never got anything from them.

I picked up a shaving soap disk from Walgreens the other day. I also seen them at the local Walmart. I have yet to find a soap mug

I start out wetting my face really well before applying the oil. But if I'm starting to shave and my face is a little too dry for my liking then yeah I'll wet it again, although I'm always worried about washing the oil off.

As for the person who asked what is better about oil than cream, I just like that I can see what I'm doing very well and its a lot cleaner. I don't have anything against cream though. I just tried the oil once when I decided to try shaving my head.

I used to use pacific. It's pretty good. What I liked most about it was being able to see where I was shaving so as to avoid accidental trimmings of sideburns and bearded areas. I now go the full wetshaving route with pre-shave treatment, badger brush, english shaving cream, thayer's, then after shave balm. It definitely allows a closer shave, because with pacfic I still got irritation against the grain, and I don't get it (as long as I don't shave every day) with the full setup.
