Repurpose Seagate GoFlex HD

I had a couple year old Seagate NAS lying around that I wasn't using anymore, and wasn't happy with the performance when I did. So, I decided to split it apart and pull the hard drive out and install it in my computer as a secondary drive. It's got a 2TB Barracuda Green ST2000DL003. My hope was that after I split the case I could plug the HD in like any other HD and format it through Windows. No dice. My BIOS is not even recognizing it.

I can tell something is happening because when I do plug it into a SATA port on my motherboard, the computer slows to a crawl when booting. I've got three free SATA ports, all do the same thing. I can hear the drive spin up.

I've swapped SATA cables with known working ones and still nothing. I can plug my WD Black into them and everything works fine, so I think I've ruled out a bad cable/port/bios setting. I also tried to access it through windows using a SATA to USB converter. Nothing.

I'm pretty much out of ideas. Either there is something on that disk that is preventing my BIOS/Windows from recognizing it or it's fried. It was working when I pulled it out, and I have a hard time believing I hurt it by splitting the plastic shell on the GoFlex. But maybe I did.

I'd appreciate any thoughts/suggestions on how I might be able to get this drive working. I know this isn't the optimal way to get more disk space, but I hated to leave it laying around either.
