The difference is that women don't just up and decide to have an abortion. Abortions for women are very personal and the decision process isn't decided on a whim, women have to deal with quite a bit of emotion before and after deciding to have an abortion.

For some it's along the same line as getting a flu shot. Not all, maybe not many, but some.

I feel abortion is a woman's decision and only the woman's decision.
But 20 weeks doesn't seem too outlandish to me.
That's some 5 months, after all.
I would think any woman would know far before 5 months whether or not to abort, unless some major medical issue arose.
I suppose there should be a line drawn as to abortion vs murder.
I would think at some point the unborn would be considered a human life?
And 5 months seems a bit late to abort if no medical reasoning is involved.
But then again, what the hell do I know about it? I'm not a woman.

Most that abort do so simply because they can not afford to raise a child.
Especially a teen or a unmarried woman on her own.
And cracking down on abortion, especially late termed, might have some merit "if" the very same republicans that want to crack down on abortion and make abortion harder to get, did not also vote to cut welfare assistance funding for single mothers, and for families living in poverty.
THAT is what pisses me off about republican do-gooders when it comes to abortion and religion and God and rights of the unborn, that the same jerkoffs would also vote to cut to the bone any tax payer assistance to all of those newborns and their mothers living in poverty.
You can't have to both ways.
It's like the republican brain is all full function about the unborn and their protecting the unborn.
But once that child takes a breath, republican do-gooders brain shuts down.
And their sympathy not only melts away, but turns into anger towards the mothers and their newborns.
And thats called ideological retardation plain and simple.

I think killing babies is wrong. I hate even thinking about it. But with that being said, I have never said I think they should be illegal. I am a male, so I have never had to decide if I should have an abortion or not. It's not right for me to decide one way or another what a woman does. I do not support treating abortion as a form of birth control but again, it's not my call.

My problem in this thread is people focusing on this stupid 48 hour deal and acting as if they are fighting for victims. That just isn't true. If you want to fight for victims, fight for something that will actually help someone. Don't politicize rape. It's a serious issue that shouldn't be lumped in with this stupid debate.

The 48 hour delay is just a tactic to pester the Woman from exercising her Right.

Is it not? Do you have evidence that women choose to have abortions on a whim? Do you have evidence that a "cool off" period deters abortions?

Nope.

Of course it's meant to be a hurdle. And if we were talking about this honestly it would be one thing, but this thread is about rape. My existence in this thread is solely to point out that the 48 hour wait will affect such a small number of rape victims that you could not even get a tally that would clear the margin of error.

Take the hyperbole out of this thread, quit politicizing rape and it's a whole different discussion. But using rape victims as a pawn on this? It is seriously disgusting.

If it has such a minimal effect then why support it? What exactly is the reasoning behind it? Should women only be allowed to have an abortion if they have been raped?

I'm not following your point or logic.

Nope.

Completely moot.

I dont support or oppose it. I oppose politicizing rape victims. I oppose trying to use smoke and mirrors to focus on the 1% so we don't have to talk about the 99%.

Again...if we take rape out of this thread and have an honest discussion, it's a whole different thread.

It's to shame them. They're sluts. They need to be ashamed of their sluttiness. They need to go beg a police officer or doctor or therapist or whomever for permission to have their abortion. Remember, they're not grown women capable of making their own health care decisions, they're little girls who need a grown-up to tell them what to do.

That reminds me of the Amy schumer skit about birth control.
