I've never seen a political party continually self-immolate itself like this again and again. They will not stop until their party is completely irrelevant.

The Democrats really don't even need to do anything at this point. Just sit back and watch this moronic party self-destruct.

Governance is about more than just beliefs. The Tea Party has beliefs, but not the smarts you need to enact them into law. That requires real bipartisan compromise and understanding you'll never be able to get everything you want. Hopefully they will be cleaned up in the midterms of 2014 and we won't have to deal with this brand of Republican again.

By saying 'have become', you're implying this is a recent phenomenon :p

Who cares, when the big government GOP dies, the country becomes a one party dictatorship dedicated towards to Total State. All the pretenses of two party debate will be gone, the malfeasance of the state will be crystal clear, and rebellion against the regime will be inevitable.

The added benefit is that social conservatism will be destroyed forever.

If the Republican party is so irrelevant and so stupid, why do you care so much as to make a post about it? I thought they were irrelevant.

To kill time? Why else does anyone post here? I guess there's probably a couple of people from the heritage foundation

Maybe there's more than one kind of Armageddon.

I agree...

It's the party of racists and ignorant people who are more scared of God than common sense.

Whites who are non racist (and there's plenty of them), who want low taxes, less government and all the good stuff that made it fun to be republican have long since switched to Independent which honestly needs a better representation in the house and the senate.

If someone calls one a republican or a tea partier, I pretty much mentally ignore the person then and there because their opinions don't have one bit of common sense behind it. Just fear.

I asked one such person who would like in the White House since he was screaming about the invalidity of Obama and what a mess he has made. He said he'd love Ronald Reagan's corpse in the white house playing president till he dies.

Personally I'd much rather have a guy with a pulse at the President who doesn't raise gas prices from $1.75 a gallon to $5.00 a gallon to make his oil friends happy.

What are you talking about? All the Republicans I know including family members have been energized and excited by all this. They are especially thrilled by their heroes Cruz, Boehner and the return of Palin.

The religious/stupid breed more. They can't self-immolate. Who else would they vote for? How would they become irrelevant? More like even worse and ever present. Have to hope for more hispanics :)

I'm reading the news articles and it's pretty hilarious how the party is self destructing.

It's kind of weird how even the GOP's rising stars are telling the GOP to stop being the party of stupid, but they ignore their own advice time and time again:

http://swampland.time.com/2013/01/25/bobby-jindal-weve-got-to-stop-being-the-stupid-party/

Being a republican HAS to be because of some sort of genetic defect. If you keep on running into a wall, you'd think you'd learn from it EVENTUALLY, right?

When liberals point this shit out, it's a 'circle jerk'. When Republicans point it out that Republicans are stupid, or even 2 former heads of the RNC point out that the GOP were/are race baiting racists, what is that exactly? You conservatives have absolutely no fucking self awareness whatsoever.

Don't think I can stand another President aligned with either party. Stupid goes both ways.

The ignorance and opinions expressed in this thread are truly shocking and shameful. This is what our country has come to?

Foxnews and the tea party continue to double down on stupid. Keep on saying how the american people lost because of Obamacare, while failing to mention that this had nothing to do with that in the first place. Failing to mention that all they were voting to do was open and pay for the government.

What you God Damned liberals just don't seem to want to get is how far these idiots will go to support their imbecilic team. In a fair and equal contest where their imbecility wasn't a factor they would bury you and regularly do. So if there is something genetically wrong with them it's that they are powerfully adapted for survival in competitive situations. The more you attack these marching morons with insults and derision, the stronger they become. They are highly adapted to becoming better at being sick by deep belief in an altered reality. I see no way, in a world where there's no external threat, and their need for an enemy still manifests, but to try to show them they are destroying their own super-team of fellow Americans. And as we can see some of them are beginning to get it. The thing that will save humanity isn't a political theory but the evolution of the awareness that humanity is one team, that we are all the same. Funny enough, this is just the very thing that Fundamentalist Christians preach but of course fail to apply at the first poke in the nose.

Is it possible that a new party might arise to fill the void and challenge the neo-con Democrats? Perhaps a party dedicated to rational government and national economic interest?

I know that you love your own words (you DID post them twice, after all) but you might want to rethink that first line. You've literally said that non-ignorant people (who in your mind are presumably Democrats) are more afraid of common sense than of G-d. I'm assuming that was not what you meant - although since you evidently feel that the President has a switch to set gas prices I could be wrong . . .
