I can see how you could view this as a numbers game. Really seems like a transparent electoral grab. Republicans want to win, just like Democrats. It's just a game for either side.

But will any Democrat step forward and admit that for the majority of Democratic voters you could replace the candidate's name with (D) Welfare, and still get the same voter outcome?

I believe it's a straight up bribe, and ought to be treated as such. If you're on assistance, voting becomes black and white. Do you vote for the guys who increase benefits, or the guys who probably wont, and might even cut benefits. It's like voting to keep your "job." How many urbanites approach the voter booth with what's best for the nation at heart?

These people have no stake in America. They are negatives on the balance sheet. And since the system doles out benefits in proportion to the amount of kids you have, well...some one with even a basic understanding in math can see the issue.

I can respect the majority of liberal posters here in P&N. You guys seem intelligent, and you have conviction behind your ideologies. I don't agree with them, but can respect that.

I can't respect a vote made to protect food stamps instead of America.

The question is, how can things truly be made fair? It seems like a frightening step to take the power out of the hands of the people, even slightly. But it also seems scary to rule the entire nation based on the needs of the highest concentration of welfare moms and their broods.

(in before "you're racist!" despite zero mentions of race)

This is a total false choice. Most who support a social safety net are not benefiting from it, or if they are have no problem paying for it (i.e. Social Security).

Second, urban areas and blue states are net losers in the federal transaction, with red states taking in more than they pay in to the federal system. It's ironic that the real takers are in fact voting against their interest, though you suggest the only reason Democrats get power is by buying the vote.

I had no idea Asians voted for Obama 3 to 1 to protect food stamps and welfare. I mention them because as a group they are the most educated highest earning group.

So bankrupt urban cities are broke because they're paying too much for rural and suburban consumers, not because they basically have to support all their residents?

Republicans aren't perfect by any means. One big issue they fail on is immigration. I say this because my wife is a Brazillian citizen. Her entire family is more or less on the Democrat band wagon because they think people like Romney want to somehow round up and deport everybody en masse.

What can I say? Republicans have this "whites only" image for some reason. Somehow fiscal responsibility brands you as racist...
