She seems to be a real airhead but then again, anyone running against Reid should win regardless.

SHOULD is a thing Republicans should not think. Look at MA, the Dem there barly put up a fight and even the newspapers did not poll as they KNEW the dem would win.
Senator Webb from VA was not supposed to win and the Rep was running for president more then the senate.
Never under estimate your chances of losing/winning. That and Reid has a LOT of support from Casino owners.

"You know, before we all started having health care in the olden days, our grandparents they would bring a chicken to the doctor, they would say "I'll paint your house". They would do, ...and that's the old days of what people would do to get health care with their doctors. Doctors are very sympathetic people."

Sorry, I'm just missing where she said people should bring chickens to their doctor. Probably because ...she didn't say that.

Eh, as much as I want to poke fun, she was just point out a historical truth. People did in fact barter much more with their doctors in the past.

There's actually a resurgence of this type of thing with concierge medicine, though less bartering of course and more cash. Still, the spirit of what she's saying I think is extremely important and absolutely could work: Get the payor out of the process as they are killing the industry.

lol.... oh wait... it's what went on less than 100 years ago... lol at our grandparents and their parents.....

But yes, it wasn't a very smooth political move to say it as she did.

Did you miss the part where she said "I'm not backing down from that system"

A system were more people take the financial burden of their medical care straight to the doctor instead of through a third party (insurance), with reference to how they USED to do it back in the day. You're an idiot if you think she said people should take chickens or buckets of paint to their doctors office.

xj0hnx: Are you interpreting her comments as we should abolish medical insurance? And that would improve our health care system? Wow, she is brilliant.

She's advocating the barter system to pay for medical care. Does anyone honestly think that could be applied at any level? It's an idiotic solution for healthcare reform clumsily delivered with chickens.

How long before she goes on Hannity's show do he can kiss her ass and help her spin out of this?

She wasn't advocating bartering chickens for checkups, she was advocating that everyone voluntarily give up insurance and beg their doctors for lower prices or free healthcare.

That's much more reasonable.

Edit: Oh, she's also saying doctors are already willing to give away free healthcare. All you have to do is ask.

I agree with her there. Doctors are sympathetic people. That is why they have one of their staff deny a person medical care b/c of inability to pay instead of doing it personally.

Heh, I thought that was so that they could deny patients and still claim to nominally follow their silly oath. If you don't see a patient, there is no obligation... :D

How you got that from the short, probably out of context snippet I don't know, but no, that's not what she said, and that's not how I interpreted it.

No, that's not what she said at all.

I've never had a doctor tell me they wouldn't treat me because I didn't have the money on hand to pay them ...never. I've had my regular doctor split payments between checks, or even change the code so the insurance covered more.
