How dare you guys criticize a victim of the Bowling Green Massacre?
Poor Canadians can afford it because it is covered by their single payer system so I corrected your post.Shouldn't the headline be "rich American goes to Canada for surgery that poor Americans can't afford"?
Shouldn't the headline be "rich white guy goes to Canada for surgery that poor people can't afford"?
oh the ironingSounds like a huge nothing burger. I know the truth won't stop your circle jerk, however.

From the story:
The hospital where Paul will be treated, the Shouldice Hernia Hospital, is "the only licensed hospital in the world dedicated to repairing hernias," according to its website.
Kelsey Cooper, a spokesperson for Paul, told The Hill that Paul chose to have his surgery at the Canadian hospital because it is a "world renowned hospital."
“This is a private, world renowned hospital separate from any system and people come from around the world to pay cash for their services," Cooper said in a statement.

But but but USA should have best medical of everything cause we are great! Trump made it so.
Lots of people from all over the world come to America for our top notch innovative care. In this particular case this person chose a hospital in Canada to have his surgery performed. Trying to cheerlead over this singular instance is inane.
Like I said, I knew the facts of this situation wouldn't dissuade the circle jerk, you guys are showing me to be right. Carry on.
I can only parrot what I hear. Canadians long ago gave into the forbidden socialized medicine fruit and will turn into Venezuela any minute now.
A spokesperson for the hospital confirmed that ZSFG does not accept any private health insurance, describing this as a normal billing practice. He said the hospital’s focus is on serving those with public health coverage — even if that means offsetting those costs with high bills for the privately insured.

Yeah exactly, the news here is that the guy is rich enough to afford it, while average Americans probably can't.

The lesson of this thread, only the rich should get the best healthcare.
And in the crappy socialist system everyone has access to the top facility in the world, irrelevant of their means. You can't. I can. Also, the rich get the best TV's, eat the best, have the nicest cars, bigger homes, nice boats, can afford nice in-home gym equipment/gym memberships, drink better booze, have softer TP, etc. etc.
That doesn't mean the less well off don't have options, too. But, in America everyone has opportunity to make money and do something with themselves. What is stopping you from rising up and buying good insurance? Are you not smart enough or driven enough so you think society owes you due to your own inabilities?

Listen you ignorant fuck. The point being made here, which apparently you are too stupid to understand, is that we have a libertarian republican senator, who's views espouse for a small government and less taxes and who has voted against access to health care for all and at reasonable costs, goes to a country for medical care. That country happens to also provide coverage for all its people (citizens or not) that is not only cheaper than what we pay but their system also has private medical facilities that offer superior care to anything we offer...Meaning, even in "socialized" health care system you can still have quality private providers whose capabilities rival the rest of the world.
To break that down for your dumb ass even more; his bullshit political beliefs are actually keeping America from being great!
"if you can pay for it" does not mean access to everyone. You will notice I said irrelevant of means. In the capitalist system everyone has access to top quality means. You can, I can.
The facts I posted earlier are lost on you. If anything this is a prime example of competition and the customer (patient) choosing the care in which he thinks is best for him. Profit-driven competition created this situation.
Yes, you stupid fucking twat, competition can still exist in a socialized health care system. That's the point and this d-bag senator has used his power to block competition and the ability for citizens to choose what's best for them.
"if you can pay for it" does not mean access to everyone. You will notice I said irrelevant of means.
I don't think you understand how our health system works given your replies here.
And despite you guys going out of your way to make this a social healthcare vs. privatized health care discussion, this thread is really about a person that prefers privatized health care using a privatized for profit hospital that specializes in the procedure he needs. Sorry this thread didn't turn out to be the socialized healthcare shining example you all thought it would be. Pesky facts and all.
