Corrupt Republicans have been going down like flies in a bug zapper.

There are corrupt Democrats as well but Republicans took corruption to a whole new level.

It worked for quite some time thanks to Karl Rove, Corporations, Talk Radio, Murdock and the Churches.

One can only hope that the Sheeple don't fall for them again anytime soon.

11-20-2006 Corrupt Ohio fundraiser gets 18 years in prison

TOLEDO, Ohio - A former GOP fundraiser at the center of a scandal-plagued state investment in rare coins that helped Democrats seize power in the midterm elections was sentenced Monday to 18 years in prison.

Separately, Noe already has been sentenced to two years and three months in federal prison after pleading guilty earlier this year to funneling $45,000 to President Bush's re-election campaign.

The scandal surrounding the investment that Noe managed had dogged the state GOP for more than a year, culminating this month with Democrats winning a U.S. Senate seat and four of five statewide offices after 12 years of Republican rule.

The Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation gave Noe $25 million in 1998, followed by another $25 million in 2001 to invest in rare coins. Democrats charged that Noe got the money because of his ties with the GOP.

Investigations into the coin investment led to ethics charges against Republican Gov. Bob Taft, who pleaded no contest to failing to report golf outings and other gifts. Four former Taft aides pleaded no contest to similar charges.

Before the investigation began, Noe was a member of state boards that oversee the Ohio Turnpike and Ohio's public universities. He was a top GOP fundraiser who gave more than $105,000 to Republicans including Bush and Taft in 2004.

So the "Republican Nanny State agenda" is sweeping through a virtually impregnable Democratic stronghold?

The nanny state is typically a staple of Democrat stongholds...saving people from themselves...the nanny state typically contradicts or directly opposes corporate interests, and you have on numerous occasions whined of Republicans being corporate whores...can't have it both ways.

Do a little research on who led the charge against music and now video game censorship...Republican nanny state indeed

Yeah right. All republicans are against prohibitions. Anti-seatbelt wearing, pro-pot legalization, and anti-insurance company, and anti-patriot act non hippy types.

yea..they just choose other freedoms to restrict (or at least to focus on restricting)

its still the same BS

it always makes me sick when people are like but but the democrats do this too.or so do the republicans blah blah ..its a good point if you are saying they are both scuzzballs but it doesnt do anything to prop one or the other up..im not too concerned with unfair criticism of a party when they both do the same crappy things which are unacceptable

Republicans can be just as bad, although they tend to appeal to some sense of a morality with a religious context, as opposed to the politically correct motivated intentions of liberals.

Also, there is a distinction between "common good" and a nanny state.

Seatbelts are a necessary precaution because vehicle accidents due happen, and the medical costs of a society without such safety measures in place become quite restrictive...so seabelts are in essence a common good regulation.

Pot...no argument with you there...why certain drugs remain illegal yet alcohol is not is beyond me.

Insurance companies...these are private institutions, not government entities, and therefore have nothing to do with the nanny state...although I am sure you would find insurance to be quite helpful the next time some knucklehead runs a red light and hits your vehicle.

And the Patriot Act...still waiting for someone to define exactly how it has infringed on the average citizen's life...since 9/11, with the exception of heightened security at airports, I cannot think of one example where the government has become more intrusive.

Good lord. You partisan hacks have it all wrong.

The Democrats and the Republicans both want to curtail your freedom slowly. That way you won't miss it when it is completely gone.

The only difference between both parties is which freedom they will take away from you, and in what order.

Daley said he's not going to enforce it, it's going to be just like those obscure laws from the 1800's, e.g., you may only travel to tombstone via stagecoach, any other method of travel is against the law

the reason they banned it is because of the video with the nozzle shoved down the ducks throat to fatten it up before they kill it. It's kind of ironic, they are disgusted by shoving the nozzle down its throat, but killing it is ok?

Because when you say it it's usually full of partisan vitriol, conjectyure, half-truths, and stupid assumptions. Essentially, it is the normal dave post that everybody laughs at, calls you on, and then you hide or come up with another stupid assumption.

Keep 'em rollin dave, I always need good laughs.

Although I did like one of the comments on that site you linked to...

"The founding fathers would be so mad at you people for treating chickens bad". Fekkin moron, the founding fathers had slaves, more venerial diseases than a modern day hooker, and were for *PERSONAL FREEDOM* you stupid tree hugging, rights restricting, big-brother creating idiot.

I disagree with that statement.
Republican = Corruption

What a silly statement to make. *EVERY* side gets corrupt. It's the inherent weakness is man, as soon as power is had the corruption rolls in. To not recognize that is to blind yourself to the obvious problem with any career politician, they only want to help themselves to power.

This is why I am strongly for 2 term limits for senators also. I am also for elimination of private funding for candidates and a leveling of all on-air broadcasting.

10-19-2006 Judge orders Cheney visitor logs opened for Washington Post

WASHINGTON - A federal judge has ordered the Bush administration to release information about who visited Vice President Dick Cheney's office and personal residence, an order that could spark a late election season debate over lobbyists' White House access.

The Washington Post asked for two years of White House visitor logs in June but the Secret Service refused to process the request. Government attorneys called it "a fishing expedition into the most sensitive details of the vice presidency."

U.S. District Judge Ricardo M. Urbina ruled Wednesday that, by the end of next week, the Secret Service must produce the records or at least identity them and justify why they are being withheld.

The newspaper sought logs for anyone visiting Cheney, his legal counsel, chief spokesman and other top aides and advisers.

The Secret Service had no comment on the ruling Thursday. In court documents, government attorneys said releasing the documents would infringe on Cheney's ability to seek advice.

"This case is about protecting the effective functioning of the vice presidency under the Constitution," attorneys wrote.

A lawsuit over similar records revealed last month that Republican activists Grover Norquist and Ralph Reed ? key figures in the Jack Abramoff lobbying scandal ? landed more than 100 meetings inside the Bush White House.

The Post cited those records, which were released to the Democratic Party and Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, as evidence that the documents should be released.

a conflict occurs when on the one hand the administration wants to operate in complete secrecy and have all its deeds be immemorially sealed from inspection, yet on the other hand the administration demands that all the rest of us must give up our rights to privacy.

in essence, the bush administration wants to protect themselves from us and also wants to protect us from ourselves. what a bunch of paranoid control freaks.

that says alot for those that promote the idea that: "you shouldn't have a problem with the gov't infringing on your right to privacy if you don't have anything to hide."

2-15-2007 Republican Nevada governor facing FBI probe for kickbacks

The FBI is investigating whether Nevada Gov. Jim Gibbons failed to properly report gifts or payments from a software company that was awarded secret military contracts when he was in Congress, The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday.

Investigators are looking at whether federal contracting rules were violated or whether gifts or payments were offered in exchange for official acts by Gibbons, the newspaper said.

Gibbons, a Republican, was sworn in last month as governor after five terms in Congress, where he served on the House Intelligence and Armed Services committees.

He asked the House ethics committee in November for an opinion about whether he improperly reported private jet flights and a Caribbean cruise paid for by businessman Warren Trepp, owner of eTreppid Technologies LLC.

The Reno-based company has millions of dollars worth of classified federal software contracts from the Air Force, U.S. Special Operations Command and the CIA

The Journal reported new evidence had emerged in a lawsuit in Reno, including e-mails to Trepp discussing a payment or gifts to then-Rep. Gibbons. The e-mails also show Gibbons using his congressional office to help the company seek classified military and civilian contracts, the newspaper said.

"Please don't forget to bring the money you promised Jim and Dawn," Trepp's wife, Jale Trepp, said in a March 22, 2005, e-mail days before Trepp and his wife embarked on the Caribbean cruise with Jim Gibbons and his wife, Dawn, a former Nevada state assemblywoman.

According to the Journal, Trepp responded minutes later saying: "Don't you ever send this kind of message to me! Erase this message from your computer right now!"

Gibbons did not disclose the cruise and travel on Trepp's leased private jet, as required by House ethics rules. He later asked the House Ethics Committee for an exemption, but left office before any action was taken.

Money is the milk of politics-----and as one reprobate who was caught said in the way of an explanation.
"I seen my chances and I took it."

So remember--for every rascal that gets caught---there are probably a dozen or better who get away with it. After awhile---it becomes a habit---and then a right.

Rush Limbaugh is self proclaimed on loan from God.

Dick Cheney is on loan from Haliburton.

And GWB just baffles me.---but if GWB is not removed by impeachment--perhaps a mental competency exam is in order.---or an all expense one way trip to the Hague might do it for both
GWB and Dick Cheney---he can google earth his ranch when he gets there.
