I didn't see this posted yet:
Republican likens contraceptive mandate to Pearl Harbor, 9/11
A House Republican lawmaker likened the implementation of a new mandate that insurers offer coverage for contraceptive services to Pearl Harbor and the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks against the United States.

Pennsylvania Rep. Mike Kelly (R), an ardent opponent of abortion rights, said that today's date would live in infamy alongside those two other historic occasions. Wednesday marked the day on which a controversial new requirement by the Department of Health and Human Services, which requires health insurance companies to cover contraceptive services for women, goes into effect.

"I know in your mind you can think of times when America was attacked. One is December 7th, that's Pearl Harbor day. The other is September 11th, and that's the day of the terrorist attack," Kelly said at a press conference on Capitol Hill. "I want you to remember August the 1st, 2012, the attack on our religious freedom. That is a day that will live in infamy, along with those other dates." ...
What a pandering, scum-sucking idiot.

Hawaii Senator Daniel Inouye has already responded:
Statement by Senator Inouye
Wednesday, August 1, 2012

“I witnessed the attack on Pearl Harbor and had the privilege of serving in the United States Army during World War II and I find the comments made by the Congressman from Pennsylvania to be misguided and insulting. It is complete nonsense to suggest that a matter discussed, debated, and approved by the Congress and the President is akin to a surprise attack that killed nearly 2,500 people and launched our nation into the second World War or a terrorist attack that left nearly 3,000 dead and led to fighting and dying in Afghanistan and Iraq. Having fought for this nation in Europe, I find that I have a special kinship with those who served in Afghanistan and Iraq and I routinely visit with the most severely wounded veterans of those conflicts. Just yesterday I met with a brave young man who lost all four of his limbs in Afghanistan. I hope the Congressman from Pennsylvania has the courage to share his comparison with them,” said Senator Daniel K. Inouye.

And people still think that there is no difference between Republicans and Democrats.

At the very least the difference is sanity. The Republicans have lost theirs.

If you represent "Democrats", then I see no difference.

Bottom line, the voters of that district have the right to elect whomever they want to represent them, and this guy will be up for re-election in November. This person holds a 0.2% say in the congress.

You really need to seek professional assistance for your feelings on women. It's not healthy.

More women having better access to contraception should mean fewer men forced to support children they never wanted in the first place, shouldn't it?

If you were even half-assed rational or consistent, you'd see this as a good thing.

Defending the indefensible is always a hard fought uphill battle with little appreciation for the effort. Ask any conservative poster in this forum. :D

That being said, I give creds to those rightie posters who have helped make this forum a very lively and educational experience indeed. You know who you are.

The wealth of knowledge I have gained from participating in this forum is much appreciated.

Like my role model boss who inspired me in so many ways always used to say: "Doesn't matter who you are, every person has something of value to add to the pool of knowledge....both good and bad."

Raising the spectre of 9/11 and Pearl Harbor, what will those crafty Republicans think of next?

I love the smell of desperation in the morning. Smells like....victory!

My heart was racing when I first heard of the attack on my freedoms on the radio this morning. Never before have I felt such an attack upon my very soul. It was as though Obama himself had outstretched his long arm of freedom killing Socialism and violated my American dreams in a gruesome child molester death grip before squashing them for good before my very eyes.

These fucking impoverished dreg of society are bleeding us dry, gobbling up our tax dollars in government aid only to breed like rabbits and spread their socialist poison to a dozen others. Now they would have us reach even deeper into our products to provide them with birth control? I don't know what to say... WE CAN'T AFFORD ALL THIS SHIT LIBERALS. Now my tax dollars are slipping away and hope dies as women blow through all their contraceptives in a matter of days, nay, hours in their slutty non-stop pursuit of more sex. It was then as though I could see the entire future of America laid out before me as it rotted away for good. Indeed, women now had contraceptives. And I knew instantly our best days were forever behind us.

August 1st, 2k12. The day innocence was lost forever.

If forced to choose between the two, I'll take the "pander to women party" over the "crazy party" seven days a week and twice on Sunday.

I'm new here, so please forgive me if I have this wrong...but is this Sophitia person serious...is (s)he for real?? That post is so melodramatic, I kept reading it expecting a punchline at the end indicating (s)he was satirizing Congressman Kelly!

REALLY Sophitia...it wasn't bad enough Rep. Kelly compared preventive healthcare benefits for women to 9/11 and Pearl Harbor, you're gonna up the crazy and compare this to a child molester?

These fucking impoverished dreg of society are bleeding us dry, gobbling up our tax dollars in government aid only to breed like rabbits and spread their socialist poison to a dozen others. Now they would have us reach even deeper into our products to provide them with birth control? I don't know what to say... WE CAN'T AFFORD ALL THIS SHIT LIBERALS.

REALLY Sophitia...you think this is your tax dollars? Have you read any fact-based coverage of this issue? This is not being paid for with your taxes, so please take a breath and calm down. This applies to women who have health insurance, like my private insurance I pay $520/month for (I'm self-employed & not an "impoverished dreg") and employer provided insurance which most employees contribute to. These new benefits are paid for by the INSURANCE COMPANIES! And since we're talking PREVENTIVE CARE here, it makes good business sense for them to do this - it leads to healthier women, who make fewer claims for serious illnesses, and will help catch serious illness earlier which saves money and saves lives!

REALLY Sophitia...are you trying to be funny in an ironic way?? You complain "impoverished dreg of society are bleeding us dry & breeding like rabbits." You'd think "giving" them birth control was an idea you could get behind! Hey, I'm just saying!

REALLY Sophitia...have you been learning about Birth Control from Rush Limbaugh again? Most forms of contraceptives don't work that way (and especially the forms of contraceptives covered by prescription, and therefore covered by this provision of the Affordable Care Act, don't work that way.) Take Birth Control pills for example; you take one a day, every day. If you have sex 10 times in one day, you don't take 10 pills that day. And if you don't have sex at all the next day, you don't skip your pill (PAY ATTENTION! THAT'S how babies are made!) So, your whole "blow through all their contraceptives in a matter of days, nay, hours in their slutty non-stop pursuit of more sex" argument is completely irrelevant.

So, there you go. Our future is not rotting away and our best days are still ahead of us, because none of what you thought was true, is actually true. Now, don't panic, you're still entitled to your own opinion of the facts as I've laid them out, but why get so worked up about the stuff that's not even true? Seriously, google it...please!

LiberalBabe, I doubt very much he/she is serious (at least I hope not). it strikes me as a sort of a parity of a right winger when Sophitia post these things, kind of like The Cobert Report. it's so over the top it can't be how they really feel.

Comparing actions taken based on due process and according to the law to terrorist attacks (9/11) and cowardly surprise attacks (Pearl Harbor) is idiotic and somewhat insulting.

You mean like how easier access to improved birth control technology and legal abortion should lead to fewer women having children out of wedlock?

Not to mention that your assumption is based on the idea that women don't want to get pregnant.
"These are not the 'oopsies,' the 15-year-olds who didn't know any better," said William Doherty, professor of Family Social Science at the University of Minnesota. "It's more like women are saying, 'This guy isn't marriage material, but he's good enough to have a child with, so it wouldn't be the end of the world if I got pregnant.'"

I do not think your assumption is accurate.

I just wish that if these women are going to ask for government assistance, and go after child support, that we would at least regularly and randomly drug test them. I also feel this way about welfare recipients.

At times like this, I wish an older member of house, preferably a veteran, would have just walked up and decked this guy. I'm very rarely an advocate for any kind of violence, but some people just need to be knocked on their asses sometimes.

Who hit nehalem256's woman hatred switch again?
It's pathetic, but it's all he has. Misogynistic trolling as a lifestyle.

I still don't have anyone on Ignore, but he's a top contender for my first. I don't believe he's ever posted anything of value.
