Thanks for the link and tip! My TDK came this morning. Can't wait to feel the burn!:D

It's not a Win2K-specific fix. My BIOS would NOT recognize the TDK drive as UDMA-33 until I applied the jumper.

Ordered mine Wednesday night (standard shipping) and received it on Friday!! The bad part is, it's not the kit that includes the 50 cdr's. The whole thing has to go back so they can send me the correct one.:|

They shipped my CD's separately from the Burner. You may want to wait a while.

DefRef: How'd you get UPS to deliver on a Saturday, pray tell? :) Mine won't be here until Monday.

Jedibus,

Check your order tracking. You'll probably have a separate # that is your CDR's. They shipped mine in a separate package.

I paid the extra $4 for 2nd Day Air and it was supposed to be delivered Friday. Well, it never showed, so they rescheduled for Sat. and it was there when I woke up at Noon.:)

I love the 10X CD-RW speed. Since my truck's CD player can read CD-RWs, I'm geeked that I can smoke a CD from the MP3s I have in about 8 minutes and then hit the road!:D Can't find "cheap" high speed RWs though. I had to pick some up at CompUSA, $13/5-pk. ($2.60/ea.) Anyone got a good source for cheaper media?

I also smoked a coaster:Q when Nero gave a SCSI/IDE error at the start of a burn. I burned another disc immediately after and it was fine. I've gotten these before with my old burner, but am unsure what causes it.

Also, be sure to upgrade to the 1.07 firmware. It ups audio rip speed to 32X!!!:Q:Q

TDK 10X CDRWs

That's the best deal I could find on quality 10x CDRWs. Onvia has 5- and 10-packs available too for good prices, but they're out of stock. I ordered some of these discs, and even though it doesn't really matter, they look great. Very stylish.

Try contacting tdk thru the email address on the tech support page of their website. They reply quickly to most inquiries.

Thanks, I just did that. I hope TDK takes pity on me! I mean, it's not like I can use their proprietary version of Nero on another drive!

I just mailed both the $50 and $10 rebates to the address given by koenig666. Hope it works out.

I mailed them separately, but with identical printouts of the receipt from Buy.com and copies of the invoice as well. I also included the prinouts of the rebate forms. Oh, and the UPC's of course. :)

Hopefully I'll see my rebates before year-end.

WOW, talk about stellar customer support! Not only did they ship me the rebate form in a flash, but now they are going to replace my cracked software CD for free! TDK rocks!

Well, I installed my TDK... 2 coasters later it became apparent that putting on the UDMA jumper was necessary even in Win98 :(

What's this about a $10 rebate as well??? Oh, you guys must mean the CD-R media rebate... somehow I doubt that'll work, but might as well try I guess.

I haven't had any probs and I didn't put the jumper on. DMA checked off and stayed, unlike my old one.:( Only probs I've had was with a bad piece of media. (I think.) This is on a Abit BE6-II.

There's two new Buy.com $30 off $150 coupons, one for new and one for existing customers. They're supposed to expire 12/31 but who knows they could expire whenever they wanna yank them from us. If you want the coupon PM me (click the padlock symbol - upper right of my post).

^ Bump.

this might be dumb, but for those who have bought the tdk 121032 cdrw from buy.com, which of the 2 barcode like thingies at the bottom of the box is the upc we're supposed to mail in for the rebate? thanks ...

You'll want the one you actually have to cut out of the box, not the sticker looking one. If you look on the Rebate Page you'll see they request the one that "contains the numbers 20356". I'm pretty sure I remember the sticker looking one (the more rectangular one) not having those numbers, while the square real UPC did.

Oh yeah, and one more thing.... I noticed that the Web print out for the 50 CDR rebate had the address as Young America, MN (Is this thing connected to Best Buy or something??) and I think I saw a couple people that said they were going to send them both to the new NY address, so good luck to you guys, I sent my drive rebate to NY and my 50 CDR rebate to MN.

Although the TDK VeloCD 12/10/32 still shows as back-ordered there is a new Buy.com $30 off $150 coupon for all customers.

Hmmm... I bought the veloCD before the end of the year, and sent in both of the rebates. Now what catches my eye is the "new" rebate form at http://www.tdk.com/rebate/rebatevelo.html This one says "Purchase the TDK veloCD 12X Rewriter between January 1, 2001 and March 31, 2001." The dates have changed on this rebate from the one I sent in (which expired Dec 31 2000)... Whaddya guys think about being able to get another one.... Perhaps I should call TDK, eh??

Uh, Doug...maybe you missed this part:

Fraudulent submissions of multiple requests could result in federal prosecution under U.S. Mail Fraud Statutes 18 USC, Sections 1341-42.

Go for it, Dude!

Ya know...there's a difference between scoring a killer deal and just scamming.
