Repost Lock This please ..CompUsa 30GB ,5400 RPM Hard Drive for $59.99+ tax ( after instant rebates and 20$ MIR)

This deal in unbelievable! I'm looking for cheap storage right now and it's perfect!

Too bad it's only 1 rebate allowed.

[Edit] Actually it looks like it's $109 - $30 Instant Savings - $20 Rebate for a total of $59 which is still excellent.

Yep it's $79 before MIR. Staples sells Maxtor drives but they only sell the 30gb in retail box. Apparently compusa is selling only the bare drive which Staples won't pricematch.
Oh well.
Hmm if you check pricewatch apparently one place is selling a larger 40gb for $79.

Freejack2 - I saw this drive in ComUSA yesterday when i picked up my 5 free CD-Rs. It is a retail boxed Maxtor Drive so a PM may be possible. You can also look at the rebate form on the CompUSA website and see that it states that the drive is a Maxtor.

Retail packaged Maxtor 30GB 5400RPM hard drive. Offer good on products purchased between July 1, 2001 & July 14, 2001.

I was at CompUSA yesterday, too. The CompUSA regular price for this drive is $109.99. They have a $30 instant savings (why don't they just say it's on sale for $79.99?) and a $20 rebate that brings the price down to $59.99. Still not a bad price at $60 but not nearly as good as $40 would be.

The hard drive in question is a Maxtor Retail Boxed Hard Drive, not a CompUSA Retail Boxed Hard Drive. The difference is Maxtor Boxed comes with 3 year warranty CompUSA comes with 1 year. Also, not all CompUSA boxed drives are 4500rpm's. 😉

<< They have a $30 instant savings (why don't they just say it's on sale for $79.99?) >>

People will usually buy anything when they think they're getting it on sale.

And these are definitely 5400RPM. Went to my CompUSA during lunch and picked 1 up. I believe the 4500RPM was for the 20GB deal a few weeks ago at some stores.
