woah...i just typed in my home phone # in google and my name and address came up. although this doesnt bother me too much, imagine if a little kid put his/her phone # in a chat room...then any pedafile could find out where he/she lives thru google. this feature of google should be taken off IMO

edit: ok thanks conjur for pointing out this is an old issue.

OLD news.

And, any pedophile could also go to any number of other websites and actual phone books and look up the address of someone, too.

1) you can remove your phone number from their listing
2) reverse lookup directories are all over the net, there are several sites that do the same thing.

Either that or little kids shouldn't hand out their home phone numbers in chatrooms.

I'd blame the parents not google.

Besides, 99% of child abductions are by family members or neighbors not the trenchcoat man the news media wants us to be scared of.

It looks like google just searches whatever phonebook sites it can find to come up with that. Big whoop.

Google has added the convenience of US street address and phone number lookup to the information we provide through our search box. You'll see publicly listed phone numbers and addresses at the top of results pages for searches that contain specific kinds of keywords.
