Reports of a stabbing at a RIM BlackBerry BBM party in London have started circulating on the Web via Twitter. A number of attendees at the event have tweeted that at least one person, and possibly two have been stabbed. Police were called and guests were informed that they were not to leave the scene, according to The Next Web.

Police have reportedly interviewed partygoers and have arrested one person in relation to the regrettable incident. The weapon used by the assailant is said to have been a broken glass bottle and that it may have occurred in the VIP area. The victim is said to be in a serious condition in hospital. At this stage, there have not been any further details to emerge about who was involved and what might have sparked the altercation.

The stabbing at RIM's party for BlackBerry Messenger has resulted in further tragedy as London's Metropolitan Police have reported that the victim has died of his wounds. Philip Sherriff, one of RIM's UK employees, passed on early Sunday. His attacker is believed to be Ashley Charles and has already been charged with attempted murder.
The motivations behind the attack, if any, weren't made clear and may be limited to the court.

RIM in a statement through Twitter gave its condolences. "Our thoughts are with his family and those close to him and we ask for the respect of their privacy at this difficult time," the company said.
