Reporting in... second day of work at new job.....

Train

Lifer
New job finnaly started yesterday morning,

As soon as i got here i took command of 2 ships, both PIII 700's running NT 4 and both on 24/7 I'm getting about 3.9 MKeys total from them.

I immediately started looking for more, of course the cubicles near me are my first target, Today i came in early and noticed almost every computer had SETI running as the screen saver, hmmmm, well if these guys are already into distributed computing, maybe i can at least get them to join the TA seti Team, and possibly run RC5 at the same time.

After that next closest PC's are in the server room (mwuhahaha) im sure i could do just about whatever i want on the development servers (Dual P3 600's i think) but might not get to touch the live servers for a while. Next to that is the tech support guys, they should be easy to asslaminate.

I'll keep you guys posted

And if you convert them over to TA SETI, get them to blank their screens so their output goes up!

Michael

ps - go Train!

Train - did you leave the client running on that VAX at your old job?

Just curious... 😛

That Vax was at a University i had an account with, and since i wasnt the admin, i could never get more than 2 nodes running at a time on RC5, and they shut off after so many hours, plus the keyrate was tiny, it just really wasnt worth it

Yes, make sure they set the SETI screensaver to go to blank screen after less than 5 mins!!! Displaying the graphics will almost double the work unit time.

Having first tried my hand at Seti before RC5, i'm curious as to the ratio for time needed when running SETI as a blank screensaver as compared to running in the taskbar. Anyone can help?

YEA....WTG Train.

LMFAO, us dist computing people are like sharks looking for meat. You kill me train, 2nd day on job and seaching for assimilations. I do it all day at work, we have over 1000 employess and over 400 PC's. I drool at the prospect of assilimating ALL OF THEM.

When you talk about running it in the taskbar, do you mean the command line (CLI) client?

sukhoi, the gui version will run in the
taskbar if you set it to run all the time and have
the screensaver turned off.
