Reporting an XP SP3 bug

I know, it's probably not supported anymore but this bug has been driving me crazy for so long. I bet many others have come across it without knowing the cause (seems that way in Google).

On a machine with two accounts, Admin (for me) and Limited (for the family), I've noticed an annoying bug with "My Computer" and the section "Files Stored on this Computer".

If you add a scheduled task using the Admin account, then all the "My Documents" links disappears from "Files Stored on this Computer" under the limited!!! The only thing it now shows is "Shared Documents".

If you change the limited account back to admin, all the "My Document" links show up as normal in "My Computer". However, return it to limited and they are gone once more!

I have tried every registry trick there is - all the keys look fine. Once you add a scheduled task, it seems impossible to get these links back under "Files Stored on this Computer". The rest of the links are fine - it looks like some kind of permissions problem.

I checked the NTFS permissions as I do have My Documents on a separate drive - but they are fine also. Just an annoying bug, with no solution!

Does anyone know if there is a report system like Bugzilla for Firefox? Since it's not Windows 7, it probably won't get fixed like all of the other little bugs that have existed since its release, but just thought I'd mention it here in case someone searches for an answer in the future.

Try here:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx
MS Tech support for XP is free via email, but AFAIK mostly for security update problems.
For example: a problem when updating XP's IE6 (or IE7) to IE8.
They also offer free support via their in-house public news server, which can be set up on Outlook Express, or some other news reader software.
If you were hoping for an official Hotfix that addresses your issue, that's unlikely to happen.

Since XP is in "Extended Support" mode, MS would normally only make changes that relate to security. Hotfixes for non-security bugs would normally only be created and delivered to companies that have already paid for an extended hotfix agreement with Microsoft.

Thanks guys; I thought as much. I'll contact them, but as you said it's probably a lost cause. There have always been little niggles like this that go unresolved throughout a operating systems life cycle. It's minor, but annoying. Hopefully if someone searches for this in a search engine in the future, at least they'll know the cause (scheduled tasks).

I'll have one last shot at trying to find a work around, then just forget about it.
