Reporter confronts twitter trolls

Yeah these "twitter trolls" are assholes, but you would have to be pretty insecure to get so upset about shit posted online by complete strangers. If it bothers someone so much, they probably shouldn't be checking twitter/fb/forums, etc...

I think the reason wars have always been fought using young males is that, with a few notable exceptions, that's all they're good for.

Oh, and a side note-
For anyone interested, Wendys has a twitter contest going on where you tweet a picture of your flatbread sandwich. They didn't specify what stage of consumption the sandwich needs to be in.

Well, you all know what to do now

Oh snap!

Yeah OP, that first guy she interviewed could be useful as a bayonet practice dummy for armies. :awe:

That was embarrassing to watch. The girl that is. What these trolls do is wrong, but they're not going to stop trolling, no matter what you do. And if you confront them like that, it only serves to make you look silly. Ignore them.

I disagree. That little blond twerp refusing to stand behind anything he posted makes HIM look silly. "I don't even mean half of what I say." 🙄

Why should she ignore them? They have a right to express themselves in a public space, and she has a right to express herself back. I think it's great she called the little crapheads out. They thought they were anonymous, but they're not.

A friend and co-worker of mine does social media for a major sports team. Did it full time for a number of years. When it comes to dealing with trolls, she says the best course of action is to just ignore them. Which makes sense as trolls seek attention and hope to get a reaction. If you just ignore them, they move on. Twitter also has two handy buttons. Block and Block & Report for Spam.

Of course sometimes it's fun to just troll the trolls.

Why should she ignore them?

Because it was a complete waste of time. Trolls live for attention, good or bad. What they fear/hate most is being ignored. She just let them know that what they said had an affect. She fed the trolls.

Frankly, she is more pathetic.

What the reporter doesn't understand is that trolls only troll for one reason which is to get attention. As soon as you respond to them you are giving them exactly what they want. If you ignore them then they will go somewhere else

This is not true for all trolls, especially the ones that are abusive. They're looking to cause pain, and sending them off to hurt others is irresponsible.

If she almost committed suicide because of what some anonymous idiots spewed on Twitter she needs to seek professional help.

This has to be the funniest thing I've seen in a while.

Naw. If everyone just ignored them, they would go away, besides if things strangers say to you upset you, then you do seriously need an attitude adjustment. People who require validation from everyone are taking themselves way too seriously. Any time you get upset it's your own fault; no one can control your emotions except you. The hardest part of healthy detachment is in relation to family and friends, people you are close to. If you let complete stranger bother you, especially ones who are so obviously out to bother you, then you have some serious flaws of attitude. In this way, trolls are teachers.
