Reported fan speed jumping back and forth....

In both MBM5 and Asus probe, the Chasis fan speed is being reported as constantly jumping between 0 and 168750 (not a typo). obviously the fan itself is not actually doing this. Should i keep using that header to power the fan or use an adapter and a 4pin molex? It's a rear exhaust fan that's plugged into it.

Thanks for any input!
