I still love my 4000 Series ReplayTV and 2000 Series "Showstopper", both with hard drives I upgraded myself.

Seems like VHS vs. Beta all over again - the better technology lost to Tivo.

The biggest problem now is that the ReplayTV units do not have HD.

Replayfaqs and AVS Forums FTW!

Are there any other ReplayTV fans here?

I had two 5500 replays w/ upgraded drives. I loved my replays. I just bought my 2nd tivo HD so I don't use the replays anymore. Too bad they got the shit sued out of them. I would have bought a ReplayTV HD.

Are you looking to move those 5500's? ;)

I was one of those people that got in on that deal years back when Replay changed their pricing to a monthly fee, so the prices dropped but the boxes still said "lifetime activation included", so they ended up caving in and giving everyone lifetime for free. I loved that thing, but wound up selling it last year because of its lack of HD.

They really were great units though. I much prefered it to TiVo, and it was lightyears ahead of the way my freakin Comcast HD DVR works.

My parent have a 5040 that still works, but they don't use it anymore since they got AT&T U-Verse and the ReplayTV doesn't have the right IR codes to control the box.

Are they looking to sell it?
