just called...they just got six of them in at $399 a piece, with the rebate. The open box doesn't have a upc..=( but it's at $299.

 

I got the Sony SAT-T60 DirecTV/TiVo system at CC for $99 after $200 rebate. I think the deal is still good.

I got it from the one in Union Square in Manhattan. It was priced $399 on the shelf but rang up as 299. You get the rebate coupon from the register. It's brand new, although they tried to give me a pre-opened one and I bitched and got a new one.

do they need to swipe your credit card for the directivo? If I ever get one I don't want to give them my credit card. I tried they won't sell one at all. Do you think I can use my visa check card, pay cash and then close my checking account in 2 weeks. Can they still charge me for not activating it after 90 days? What's the ramifications for doing this. Of course I give them wrong spelled name, wrong address, and phone#s.

I don't know if you can get it w/o a valid CC. I didnt bother because I actually use the service. They really seem determined to stop tivo hackers.

If you are interested in the openbox unit, the rebate doesn't require the UPC code from the box as long as the receipt clearly says that the unit was "Open Box".

I picked up 2 units for $199 before rebate a few months ago.
