Replay tv question involving Cable modem.

We have two wireless network cards (no access point) just p2p. Only way for us to get the replaytv to work is to plug it into the telephone line which is the reason we got cable modem years ago to avoid the damn noise you get when you pick up the phone and the slow speeds. So to the point. We need a wireless hub or access point that has both lan and wireless. Both computers will have a wireless PCI card and the replaytv will have the ethernet cord. Oh ya we need a very very cheap one.

If your wondering our current wireless cards are old but gets the job done and it inst the 802 ones or whatever.. im guessing the 1st ones out.

What is the make/model then? Odds are you're going to need to ditch them for 802.11x cards and a router. If you want cheap, they had some cheap uniden usb wireless adapters at outpost last month.

What is connected to the cable modem?

Sounds like you need a wireless router. D-Link makes some I have seen for as low as 29.99 (after rebates) like the DI-614+.

Of course you would need new wireless cards possibly if they are not in fact using the 802.11b protocol. Seen cards like this for about 30 dollars each at todays prices.

IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY, DO NOT BUY UNIDEN NETWORK PRODUCTS!!

They are extremly flaky, if you can get them to work.

I didn't have any problems with the USB adapters I bought. I think most of the problems were with the router that was on sale.
