Local CC has the Replay 4504 for $175. Yea, I know Sonic Blue may go in the tank on Tuesday,so I didn't buy one. Seemed like a good deal to me since there were no rebates involved. If someone saves Sonic Blue then I'm there although I've got an old Showstopper which works great and no fees. Those of you who have the 4504 please comment on the deal.

Better to buy a first gen Tivo on eBay and upgrade the HD yourself...that way at least you will have service.

Jumped on a 4504 deal for 125 AR after PM/taxes in November. This machine is bad ass! Never had any problems yet. Had a couple of friends with the 5040 a little later, and some of them had problems. Also i noticed that the 4504 fan runs much quieter than the 5040's. i dont hear it at all. but i have a feeling that 4504's were just put together a little better than 5040's. the only thing that sucks right now is that 5040's cant send episodes to 4504's.....yet *fingers crossed*.

Um...talking about how Replay is going belly up...buy a first gen TiVo instead - about the same price and at least you will have service since TiVo is going strong.

I'd take a Replay over a Tivo anyday, even with the threat of the loss of service. There are ways being discussed to get guide data should Sonicblue stop offering it altogether. Don't be surprised if Tivo is in the same situation within a year.
