Replacment CPU fan... replacing a Tornado?

Lol, thats right, I rigged up a 92mm Vantec Tornado to cool my 4000+ in addition to a Thermaltake CL-P0006 all Cu heatsink and a Vantec nexus to keep things under control I when I made the switch to 939. Well the first 6 months was fine. Now? I wish i had a fan that I never have to worry about. my problem is that its only NOW that I feel like overclocking my rig...just what a Vantec tornado would be perfect for.

you must understand that at the time I was not concerned with fan noise, nor am I really all that concerned with it today. However, I really am tired of having to constantly screw with the damn fan controller for gaming and net surfing settings. ARRGG!

Can any of you guys recommend any good replacement 92mm fans? Somthing automatic, but that will still move a decent chunk of air when needed.

Thanks in advance.

Nope! Anythng else? 🙂

*edit*

Oops, sorry! Didn't realize you're (almost) a fellow DFI'er. What's the question, again?

For the most part, ppl in these forums are 120mm snobs -- less sound, more ground. They don't know jack about other fans, except they don't like them...

vinDSL here recommended me THIS 120MM fan (I know you're looking for a 92MM fan). Get a 120 -> 92MM fan adapter and slap it on. It SHOULD help you out 😉. And from the sounds of it you already have a comtroller so you should be set.

Edit: Not clear if its a Rheobus or a software based solution.

Ok, so I have a slight prob. I just reread the specs on my heatsink and it says that it can take a 80mm or 90mm fan; I did find a fan adapter that will fit a 120mm fan where a 92 would go. is the extra 2mm gonna make a difference, or can I "expand" the holes on the heatsink to take a 92mm adapter flange? Or could it be that 90mm does in fact equal a 92mm when advertised? I remember now when I was putting my system together that I had to use the 80mm to 92mm adapter cause I didnt want to risk having a screwed up heatsink. eh...if I do mess this one up...theres always to monstrous dual 120mm coolers to upgrade to!

you sure its 90MM and not 92MM? Was just on SVC and didnt see a 90MM mentioned, only 92. Since you're going for an off the spec fan, I say just use zip-ties? Or you can also get an 80 to 120 adapter from HERE.. You did mention that that heatsink is capable of an 80MM right?

Thanks for all the help guys. I couldnt find a fan adapter to save my life. yes, I just checked the thermaltake site and newegg and its a 80 or 90mm fan size. Now Im stoked to to get that 120mm!
