Replacing XP oem software

Can anyone direct me to information regarding replacing my oem Windows Home 32 bit xp?

Recently while trying to reinstall it, I received an error "AHCPI.SYS file is corrupt. Installation will now exit."

I went to the Microsoft site, and was hoping someone here knew of a way to replace the software without having to search Microsofts entire site or calling them.

OEM software is your basically the original vendor responsibility you can not just replace it.

However if you would provide some more technical info about what is that you are trying to install it on, where the OEM software came from, and you are tying to install it, may be someone can help you to figure out.

I bought it with a system from Newegg almost 4 years ago. The motherboard went about a year ago. It is past its warranty and not worth replacing. So I bought a newer MB from Newegg.

Do I ask Newegg to replace software I bought from them 3-4 years ago?

Buying OEM software makes you your own primary contact for support. That's why it's so cheap. So leave yourself a VM asking if you're able to send yourself a replacement disc. =)

Download or borrow an XP Home OEM CD (preferably with SP2 or SP3 integrated or you'll be installing updates for 3 days...), use the serial on your sticker, done deal.

You might have to call to activate, they'll just make sure it's only installed on 1 machine.

Technically, Newegg's responsibility ended when you opened the sealed Windows OEM package.

Microsoft has a web page somewhere with instructions on how to order replacment OEM media, if that's what you are asking. But I'd have to search, too, to find it.

I'll admit I've had to do this before. Lost my disk once upon a time, but have a legit license on the computer otherwise.

I do not think that Win XP is still covered under the OEM page.

NewEgg are Not Technically responsible, but they might have an advise, or just deliver the Sad news. 🙁
