replacing windows 7 with windows 8 without losing data

how to uninstall or replace windows 7 with windows 8 without losing data? as much as possible if i can install win8 with the same support for games and other apps.. please help im thinking to use windows 8 64bit instead of windows 7, it is said to have lower ram consumption, it means higher fps(not much)

It sounds like all you need to do is an upgrade install, unless I'm missing something here.

I've done it on 2 systems. A direct upgrade install was perfect. Lost nothing. Mem's point about 32 vs 64 bit is correct. If you are changing from X86 to 64, you do a clean install and use the moverware.

i made a decision to dual-boot windows 7 and windows 8..will there be a problem if i do this? im new in doing this OS things

i'm using 64bit and will install a 64bit os again:)
