Built my computer in 2011 and used the cheap newegg shell shocker deal for a Biostar TH67+...

Running a i3-2100 CPU, 8gb ram, HD6850 GPU, in an Antec P180SE Case... so size of Mobo not an issue.

Lately the usb plugs on the back are cutting in and out probably due to my negligence having things fall on the cords and the cords being yanked by my 2 year old...

I plan to replace the mobo with something a little future proof when it comes to options, but sticking to the lga1150 socket.

What else should I be looking for? I will never dual GPU... But I like ls of usb plugs, and would like a usb3.0 card reader so usb3.0 header is needed..

Looking at this one:

You cannot use 1150 board with your 1155 i3, you either get a B75 board, or Z97 board with 1150 i3

There is no such thing called "future proof" in PC world. CPU Socket changes all the time. You either stick to old stuff or buy new ones.

Your i3 is 1155. The linked Gigabyte 1150 won't work. If you think your stuff is old, just sell them. Use the fund to buy new 1151 socket.

follow mxnerd's advice, either buy replacement 1155 board or go straight for skylake 1151, no point at this time to invest in haswell system when it is 2 generations old, unless you would get mobo and CPU combo for really cheap

cheapest will be just to get used B75 or H61 board for couple bucks and you are good to go for few more years

BCLK overclocking will give you overclock of mere 1% or so, won't matter anyhow on his i3.

Yeah, $200 for a used 1155 board in 2016. For an i3. For a worthless BCLK OCing.

Completely not a shill of the dishonest kind.

If funds are low you can find some pretty good motherboard and cpu combo deals from people upgrading to skylake. Im sure you could find a great 4770k or 4790k with a solid motherboard that won't break the bank and will last you a long time. They are great performers and for the people that went to skylake and have no use for them, they let them go at reasonable prices. Something to think about :)
