My friend and I are going to be replacing studs on my 1999 Toyota Camry friday, he's done it before and I've seen it done (on the same car, actually) but I was wondering if anyone knew of place to get tutorials or instruction? Or if they could walk me through it on here (Simple instructions, from what I remember you just remove the brakes, knock the old ones threw, and put the new ones on, then tighten them up and you're done). I just want to make sure we've got everything covered, I don't think it'll be too hard, I got the studs and nuts for it from Discount, and we've got all the tools we need at his boat shop.

there are these manuals out there that are for every make, model, and year of auto. should be at any decent auto store. I have one for my 99 corolla, and it literally tells you step by step how to fix anything from light fixtures to o2 sensors. should be about 15 bucks. get one. read it. love it.

Is this a maintenance item or something? I've never heard of replacing studs just for the hell of it. Anyways, I've done it. Just hammer the old one out, and then press the new one in. Taking an old lug nut and using that to pull the new stud in will help.

No, when changing a tire two broke and we have to replace them so I can drive it without worrying that my tire might fall off, lol.

if you want to see something priceless; watch a noob mechanic remove the wheels from the drivers side of a pre 1970 Chrysler.

On some Toyotas, they have a dust plate behind the hub. It has a notch in it, so you have to rotate the hub, knock out the bolt at the notch, then rotate for the next one. It's a really big pain.

My 91 Supra had this "feature" but I was lucky enough not to have to replace them.
