I got a 250 gig Slim off craigslist that will not read games or dvds. The tray opens and closes like normal but it says reading and it never loads. I am assuming I could replace the laser but I am not sure which laser or drive I have. Has anyone done this?

You could also just pay Microsoft's flat, no questions asked, repair fee of like $100. That even gives you a 90-day warranty on the "repaired" unit, and a lot of times they'll toss in a 1 month Live card.

Beyond that, generally you just replace the drive, not the laser in the drive. I would imagine any 360 drive from a slim model should work equally well.
