The fan just went out on my BFG 6600GT OC. Has anybody attempted to replace a fan like this before and if so, how? Any tips?

I don't want to wait three weeks with out a vid card for BFG to replace it.

The card has a pretty good system set up by bfg, it's all copper, etc. Is there a better replacement?

I found an old socket 423 HSF fits quite well onto my XFX 6600GT AGP. Measure to ensure a good placement, drill the required holes, apply thermal paste and mount with nylon ties. You might not want to do it if your card has no shim around the core. It's all aluminum, but has alot of mass, and keeps my core at 65C load (DX9 Real-Time High-Dynamic Range Image-Based Lighting program, rthdribl) clocked at 550Mhz.
