replacing the carpet in vehicle

About to replace the carpet in my tahoe. Has any one gone this route before? Can't decide if I should go with the cheaper "poly" backing or the more expensive($110+) "mass" backing.

I could go with the mass backing. Should help quiet down the interior some. Considering the effort of replacing carpet, its worth the extra up front cost.

when you say noise what do you mean?

Rip the carpet you have out and drive around. You'd be amazed how much carpet can deaden the sound. Better carpet will do a better job insulating that road noise.

If I was replacing carpet and keeping the vehicle, I'd Dynamat (or some equivalent) the floor.
