Replacing stock 9700pro heatsink

Does anyone have a tried and true, simple, and safe/sane way to remove the 9700pro heatsink?
Chemicals, strategic leveraging, etc?
I need an overclocking fix and I am seeking to put a nice cooler on to reach 9800pro speeds.
But I seriously don't want to compromise the card. Is it possible?

thanks,

Here is a guide I found on the Rage3D forums that gives you step by step but I dont know if I would call it simple or even sane for that matter. hehe

I bought this off ebay. It's made for Tyan's Tachyon 9700 Pro. It not only covers the core but also covers the ram on both sides of the card. I removed the stock shim and used ASIII on the core. I was able to achieve a stable o/c of 390/690 mhz core/ram respectively.
