Hi all

I have had 2 samsung f3 1TB drives for a few years and I was wanting to replace them with much better drives.

I want better transfers and speed as I will be buying 2 drives. I had a SSD for my boot drive but the samsungs seem slow when unpacking and moving files about from drive to drive and wanted something much better if poss.

what would be better than these drives

thanks

Did you have the Samsungs in RAID 0?

If you're going to upgrade, I would recommend a single 2TB drive. They are much better $/GB, e.g. ST2000DM001. Max. speeds should be about twice or more of the Samsung F3

Are Seagates good to go? I thought a few years ago they were considered unreliable (right around when they bought Maxtor). Have they gotten better, or was that just BS spread by Samsung/Hitachi/WD fanboys?

Seagate had a little fiasco with their 1.0 and 1.5TB drives. That was years ago. I use a mix of various brands now and I see little difference in reliability or performance. I think the Seagate 7200rpm 3TB drives might be the performance/value leader right now.
