Replacing ps vita's digitizer?

I picked up a first gen vita used. It has a number of scratches on the screen.

Looking on eBay, there are a number of digitizers for sale for around $30. Is it a doable operation?

It's doable, but the display is fused to the digitizer making the repair more difficult than it needs to be. Unfortunately all electronic devices are like this today. You need to bake it in the oven at 200F to get it apart. iFixit has a how to guide in their teardown. Read it first before attempting it.

Despite its faults, the Vita is exceptionally well designed in the inside. All the parts are modular and it doesn't use special screws. So it's easy to crack open.
