Broke my screen on my Note II. Should I get another Note II for $550, sidegrade to a Galaxy S IV for about $70 more, or deal with it till the Note III comes out?
Hair dryer.I also don't have a heat gun.
Hair dryer.
Seriously, follow Zaap's detailed advice in the broken S3 screen thread; it should all be the same for the Note.
I just don't feel like putting that much effort into it.

Glass and LCD are bonded in one piece, I believe. Would be about $170 to replace it, and while I can do it, I just don't feel like putting that much effort into it to separate the glass.
I also don't have a heat gun.
Yeah, I actually called Samsung & got the price directly from them. They told me a full screen replacement, $175, shipped both ways.
To me, for a full replacement, it is very affordable. They said turnaround was about 5 days, back in hand.
Personally, I am an avid user of the s-pen. I don't really ever want to go backwards on that. I would get my Note 2 fixed(which I did), & wait for the Note 3. I already have the money for it put aside.
$0 to ignore it
$170 to repair a Note 2
$550 to get a new Note 2
$620 to get an SGS4
I would absolutely go the repair route!
Actually, it's $20 to repair, $175 to have Samsung repair, $400 to get another one secondhand.
It's $20 for a skilled person with a heat gun to repair. I called it $170 because I would buy the entire LCD module.
I also don't buy used phones.
Edit: Cronos, where are you seeing the Optimus G Pro for $550? On Amazon, I'm seeing it for anywhere from $750 to $1200.

You WANT to buy a new phone. Just go ahead with it.
DOnt wanna sound like a jackass.
But as expensive as the Note 2 is (i know cuz I have one) why didnt you spend an extra 20 on the samsung rubber edged case or 40 on the otterbox?
I'm not sure if the Note is designed like an Sx, but if the glass goes all the way to the edges too then any fall to the edge or corners will crack that glass. It's a common problem.
I got a case for my S3 that makes it easier to grab and hold. So it's a bit of a tradeoff.
