Replacing Notebook CPU

I've seen a laptop on newegg that has enough of a gpu factor to work for games I play and enough of a HD and RAM I'll add on too, but the processor is a Sempron 2800+.. and it'd only be about $100 to go for an Athlon Mobile 3000+ with better speed and cache, so what I'm wondering is how terrible is it to get a CPU replaced in a notebook on general?
Laptop is little over $600 if you're wondering, plus a mail in rebate of $50..

I just did it on my Presario M2105US. Read about it here:AMD CPU Change.

Take your time, don't lose any screws, and be careful. Make sure you have good screwdrivers, they make the job easier.

Mine had a Sempron 2800, and I changed to an AMD 64 3200 mobile and it runs much quicker and smoother.
