I'm sure this has been brought up but i could not find any answers thru searching. here's my situation... I'm running Win XP home i currently have a 80GB primary hard drive and a 120GB slave. I would like to get rid of the 80GB and use the 120GB as my primary so i can install a new slave..probably 160GB....How do i do this??? Thanx in advance for helping someone new.

Welcome to the forums. You'll need software like Norton Ghost or Drive Image to copy partitions from one drive to another. As you guessed, this topic as been brought up before. Use the search function in this case.

Since your OS is on your primary drive, you will need to reinstall XP on whatever you wind up using as the primary.

First I would backup anything important on your primary drive. Then you can switch and replace the other drives. Once you have your os installed, you can reinstall all your apps and your backups.

thanks for responding...i just want to clarify......

Obviously i need to back up any important data. do i then have to move my 120GB into the primary slot and reinstall XP? or can i just totally copy the 80GB to the 120GB using the lifeguard tools as they are both WD hard drives and then move the 120 into the primary spot?? would that work also????

You should always backup important documents. You should be able to copy from one drive to another using the data lifeguard tools without re-installing XP.
